The camping site at Grettislaug in Reykhólar village is surrounded by beautiful nature and the unique view of the Breiðafjörður bay. The area is a paradise for birdwatchers coming from all over the world. The camping site is within walking distance from a bird watching hut at Lake Langavatn. Chances are you will see white tailed Eagles there. Amongst other entertainment in the area, there are hiking trails, sailing, seaweed bath an exhibition of old boats and the gifts of nature. The only seaweed factory in the country is situated at Reykhólar, which is an environmentally friendly plant powered by geothermal energy which is abundant in this area. There is something for everyone here and the beautiful nature welcomes you to Reykhólahreppur district. Every summer there is a festival at Reykhólar called Reykhóladagar or “Reykhólar Days”.
