South Central Camping is one of the finest campsites in the South. Facilities and the surrounding areas are exemplary. Selfoss, Flúðir and Árnes are villages, are all in about 15-20 minutes driving distance from the campsite. In the immediate vicinity of south central camping there is Hestakráin (local pub) which is within 15 minute walking distance. There are beautiful hiking paths in the area. Vörðufell, Hestfjall and Miðfell are popular mountains for hiking not to mention Þjórsárdalur which contains endless possibilities for outdoor enthusiasts who want to learn about nature on their own terms. There are golf courses in Flúðir, Grímsnes as well as Selfoss.
There are no shops or markets in Brautarholt except for the pool shop so guests must bring along all necessary equipment and food for the camping trip. Dogs are allowed on leash. In the event of complaints, dog owners are always asked to take measures to comply with the wishes of those who complain. The camping ground is not very large, so it is important to park in the parking lot only when the equipment is ready to be used. The campsite is open from May 15th – September 15th.
The preschool playground is located nearby the campsite and is open to visitors on weekends and during the school summer holidays.
The pool is very popular and the sauna is has been an attraction for visitors and locals for many years.
SHOWERS AND WC
There is very good sanitary facilities in the area and showers are available round the clock.
Electricity is available for 900 ISK. Each link is 10 amps.
The playing field is always popular. There are soccer goals and plenty of open space that can be enjoyed for various sports.
Notice that the Campingcard is not valid during the bank holiday weekend (August 4th to August 7th)
